Events Happen Because of You!!!!
Events and gatherings do not just simply happen by themselves. Someone has to plan them! Each SB Hatter is required, to be the Hostess of at least one of our gatherings every other year. That way, we all get to experience many different outings. You are welcome to join with another member and Co-Hostess any event and combine your efforts for a glorious event/hoot. Please remember that all SB must attend at least 3 events a year to stay an active member. ------------------------------------------------- Here’s What To Do --- [see our Hostessing aids HERE] --First, Declare Yourself Hostess at one of our planning meetings [Jan & June] --Decide what activity YOU would like to do --Choose a date and time at our planning meeting --Contact Queen Mum or volunteer at one of the planning meetings for the "Royal Nod" to make sure that it is not conflicting with any other event at the planning meeting --Decide whether it is an "Event" or "Hoot" ...... Events: are a more structured and planned event. It is usually paid for in advance to the hostess and there is a set agenda to place and transportation for all members attending. Hoots: according to the RHS, "A "Hoot" is our word for an unstructured and extremely informal gathering of RHS members. It's usually a one day event. Sometimes (but not always) it may involve a train with members traveling from near and far to meet at one location. We pick a place and go there in mass, gather briefly to say hello, then go on our merry ways to lunch or shop or meander. The key to a Hoot is that each participant is responsible for her own reservations, transportation, and meals. There can be a theme but definitely no formal program as such." (Description from the Red Hat Society's website) --How will we get there?? carpool or meet there --Put together a flyer of all the details and email it to the Queen Mum to post on the calendar & events page --Send out an email announcing you are the hostess of the event and set the RSVP date with all the details for the calendar & events page at least (2) months prior to your event --Send out reminding emails as the event nears --You are the Hostess: you are in charge of your event, any time, any day --If you need help Queen Mum Debb or Vice Queen Pam will help you --You must hostess at least (1) event every other year to be in the SB --------------------------------------------- Etiquette for Attending Events: --It's up to you to wave your Red Hat and tell us that you want to come out and play --Come to events that fit into your schedule don't fret if you cannot make an event or hoot, but remember that SB policy must attend at least 3 events a year to stay an active member --DO NOT SHOW UP IF YOU DID NOT R.S.V.P.!!! - Always wear your RH colors check the "Events" page for the dress code after each listed event --Do not invite other guests unless you talk to the hostess first --All guests need to wear the RH colors too [if they are RH gals] --If you say you are going to an event and DO NOT show up YOU WILL be responsible to pay the cost of the event to the hostess. |

The RSVP SB Ettiquette
R.S.V.P. stands for a French phrase, "répondez, s'il vous plaît," which means
"please reply." The person sending the invitation would like you to tell her whether
you accept or decline the invitation. That is, will you be coming to the event or
not? Etiquette rules followed in most Western cultures require that if you receive an
invite to an event/hoot, you should reply promptly, perhaps that same day. For SB
hostesses who are planning an event/hoot this is important from a practical point of
view, because they will need to know how many chaperettes to count on and how
much food and drink to buy. More important, though it is the simple courtesy of
responding to a chaperette that is planning an event/hoot even if it is to say that you
regret that you will not be able to attend.
So that being said, all SB are expected to respond to all events that they plan on attending or plan on not attending by
the requested RSVP date.
